Biomedical Laboratory Technician
Enzyre, a spin-out of the Radboudumc, is located at the Novio Tech Campus in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. We are a rapidly growing company with a dynamic and inspiring SME culture. Our goal is to bring the laboratory to the patient by developing a bio-diagnostic point-of-care platform able to measure multiple biomarkers in just a few drops of blood by either the patient at home or nearby the patient by healthcare workers. We are looking for a laboratory technician with diagnostic and research skills. Enzyre is building a point-of-care platform called the EnzySystem. The EnzySystem consists of three elements; EnzyPad, EnzyCard, and EnzyApp. The EnzyCard is a small credit card-sized disease-specific disposable card containing all the reagents and controls to perform up to sixteen analysis reactions simultaneously. The EnzyPad is a handheld card-reader, whereas the complete EnzySystem is controlled by its software the EnzyApp.
Responsibilities
The technician designs, performs and validates laboratory tests, confirms accuracy results and reports findings to the project manager and other staff members. Furthermore, the technician performs maintenance and troubleshooting on the laboratory equipment by using established laboratory protocols and also evaluates QC, calibration, data entry and assessment. In this role you will work on different projects that all contribute to the development of Enzyre’s near patient diagnostic platform.
- Prepares specimens for examination.
- Performs biological, hematological and immunological tests on valuable specimens.
- Uses automated equipment and is capable of performing multiple tests in parallel.
- Execute experiments to test for enzyme and biomarker levels in blood.
- Maintains and runs relevant laboratory apparatus.
- Aids in running the laboratory (cleaning, ordering products, assisting colleagues).
- Works and documents laboratory findings according to Enzyre’s QMS system.
- Fully complies with environmental, safety and health rules of Enzyre.
- Includes lessons learned and best practices for continuous improvements. Keeps up to date with developments in laboratory medicine by continuing education and training.
Required Education / Experience:
- Completed MLO/HLO in (biomedical) life sciences or Laboratory Research.
- Experience with Microsoft Office-applications as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Familiar with working with a QMS system / ISO13485 is a pré.

- Ability to follow general instructions and procedures as provided. The work is monitored by the project manager.
- Ability to address problems that are routine, somewhat repetitive and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures and by identifying opportunities for process improvements.
- Ensures product- and project quality together with the project manager and other disciplines.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in Dutch and English with the project manager, Enzyre staff members, medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a small multi-disciplinary team to improve the procedures by offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members.
